High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) therapy is valuable in perinatal care for treating respiratory distress syndrome or supporting patients after extubation. The clinically reported respiratory benefits are reduction of inspiratory resistance (work of breathing), washout of nasopharyngeal dead space, and provision of a positive airway distending pressure.
DEAS offers a complete solution for infant HFNC therapy that can be used in conjunction with any blender found in delivery units, nurseries and neonatal intensive care units. It is available with a heated wire circuit for active humidification.
Active humidification is recommended for HFNC therapy as high gas flows
tend to dry to the airways, especially in premature babies. Adequate humidification is essential to maintain airway clearance, optimize ventilation and improve comfort.
